How much does a wedding DJ cost in Ireland? (2026 prices)

How much does a wedding DJ cost in Ireland in 2026? Typical price ranges, what's included, what pushes the price up and how to compare quotes.

If you're pricing suppliers for your wedding, the DJ is one of the easier lines to budget for once you know what you're actually paying for. This guide answers how much a wedding DJ costs in Ireland in 2026, what a fair quote should include, what pushes the price up, and how to compare two quotes that look nothing alike.

The short answer: Irish wedding guides put a wedding DJ at roughly €600 to €2,500. That's a wide range, and most of the gap comes down to hours, extras and the date you've picked.

Wedding DJ prices in Ireland: the ranges

Irish wedding guides put the cost of a wedding DJ at roughly €600 to €2,500. For comparison, the same guides put a 4–5 piece wedding band at roughly €2,400 to €3,200, with an average of around €2,650, and band-plus-DJ packages at around €2,700 to €3,000.

These figures come from wedding directories and suppliers, so treat them as a guide rather than a rule. Prices vary around the country, and a quote near the bottom of the range can be just as good as one near the top if it covers what you need.

At the lower end you'll usually find a DJ covering the evening only: the dance floor after the meal, with sound and lighting. At the upper end you're typically looking at a full day: ceremony music, the drinks reception, background music during the meal, the first dance and the night itself, often with extra lighting.

If you're weighing up a band as well, we've compared the two honestly in band or DJ for an Irish wedding.

What a wedding DJ price should include

Before you compare numbers, make sure you're comparing the same thing. A proper wedding DJ quote should cover:

  • A sound system suited to your room and guest numbers
  • Dance floor lighting
  • A microphone for speeches, if you need one
  • Set-up and pack-down, which happen before guests arrive and after the last song
  • Playlist planning beforehand: your first dance, must-plays and do-not-plays
  • Guest requests on the night
  • Announcements, such as calling guests in for the meal, the cake and the speeches
  • The agreed hours of music, written down

Set-up time is worth thinking about early. A DJ needs to be in the room well before guests arrive. DJ G sets up 60–90 minutes ahead and allows an extra 30 minutes for adjustments, so check with your venue that the function room will be free in time.

What pushes the price up

Hours of music

This is the biggest factor. An evening-only booking of around four hours costs less than a full day. A typical Irish wedding needs 4–6 hours of music: 30–60 minutes of arrival or ceremony music if you want it, about an hour of drinks reception, then 3–4 hours covering the meal, first dance and dance floor. Our Irish wedding music timeline breaks this down hour by hour.

Ceremony music

If your ceremony is at the hotel or venue, you may want the DJ to cover the walk down the aisle, the signing of the register and the exit. That often means a second set-up in a different room and a microphone for the celebrant. It's extra work, so it's normally priced as an add-on.

Extra lighting

Dance floor lighting should be standard. Beyond that, some couples want uplighting around the room or special effects for the first dance. Each of these adds to the cost.

Peak Saturdays

Saturdays from late spring to early autumn are the busiest dates in the Irish wedding calendar, along with the days around Christmas and New Year. Many suppliers charge more for these dates, and the DJs you like will get booked up early. A midweek or off-season wedding can give you more choice and sometimes a better price.

Travel

If your venue is a long drive from where the DJ is based, travel can affect the quote, particularly with a late finish. Ask up front whether travel is included so it doesn't appear as a surprise later.

Late finishes

If the bar runs late and you want music until the end, that's extra hours. Agree a finish time and get it in writing.

What DJ G Beats charges

DJ G Beats is a wedding DJ based in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, covering the Midlands and all of Ireland. Most 4-hour events cost €400 to €600. Weddings usually involve more than that (longer hours, ceremony music, extra lighting), so each wedding is quoted for your day once we know the timings, the venue and what you want covered.

Every booking includes a professional sound system and dance floor lighting. The playlist is planned with you beforehand, requests are taken on the night, and DJ G handles the announcements and can provide a microphone for speeches. There's more detail on the wedding DJ page.

How to compare wedding DJ quotes

Two quotes for the same date can look very different. To compare them fairly:

  1. Line up the hours. Write down exactly when each DJ starts and stops playing. A cheaper quote for fewer hours isn't really cheaper.
  2. Check what's in and what's extra. Ceremony music, lighting, a microphone for speeches and travel are the usual differences. Ask for anything unclear in writing.
  3. Ask about set-up. When will they arrive, and does that suit your venue?
  4. Ask how the playlist is planned. A good DJ will want to know your first dance, your must-plays and your do-not-play list well before the day.
  5. Ask about the practical side. Public liability insurance, backup equipment, the booking contract, the deposit and when the balance is due all vary between suppliers, so ask each one directly.
  6. Talk to them. A quick phone call tells you a lot about how a DJ listens, and listening is most of the job on the night.

We've put together a full list of questions to ask a wedding DJ if you want to go into more detail.

Is a cheaper wedding DJ a false economy?

Not necessarily. Price isn't a guarantee of quality in either direction. What you want is a DJ who listens to you, arrives in good time, sounds right in your room and keeps the floor full.

The warning signs have little to do with the number on the quote. Watch for vague hours, no mention of lighting, no conversation about your music, and reluctance to put anything in writing. A clear, itemised quote from a DJ who asks you good questions is worth more than a low figure with nothing behind it.
